A VPN hides your IP and encrypts traffic, but it is not a tool for absolute anonymity. Websites can still identify you via cookies, browser fingerprinting or accounts you are logged into. VPN primarily protects against network-level observation (ISP, public Wi-Fi), not against application-level identification.
